Biography

What matters is using your talents to the full. Be creative, challenge yourself and overcome your disappointments. These values are the basis of who Frans is and has become, both privately and professionally.

His mission is clear: with entrepreneurship and sustainability inherently linked, he supports the inevitable move away from traditional and now old-fashioned ways of working and towards new, ethical, sustainable and fully future-proof practices.

Frans is highly motivated and enthusiastic. He enjoys spending time with his wife, children and dog on the island of Goeree, where the 3 Rs (Rest, Room to Move and Relax) still apply. He can regularly be found on the golf course, restoring the balance between mind and body. That balance also comes from walking in the island’s beautiful countryside or skiing down mountains.

He is very interested in languages and speaks Dutch, English and French, as well as teaching Dutch as a foreign language on a voluntary basis. He enjoys demonstrating his culinary skills, with a particular preference for Spanish and Italian dishes. And he obviously makes sure he lives as sustainably as possible: solar panels, a heat pump, an electric car and vegetarian food.

Experience

Doing business internationally is in his DNA. And so, too, is his passion for sustainability.

Frans is a connector who can build bridges between ideas, projects and people in today’s transitioning world. The need for sustainability means he firmly believes in corporate social responsibility, with his enthusiasm and drive enabling him to provide solutions to make it easier for businesses, too, to commit to CSR. These solutions are practical and measurable, and include internationally accepted CSR standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), ISO 14083, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and B-Corp certification.

Based on his consultancy and project management expertise Frans uses his knowledge and experience to advise businesses on complying with all the applicable sustainability legislation and regulations. His focus is on CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) reporting, based on:

  • ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) zero measurements
  • Validated method (Loginex) for identifying scope 1, 2 and 3 CO2 emissions
  • Double materiality and GAP analyses
  • Action plans for translating sustainability strategies into concrete policy in line with the chosen SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)

Working in a creative, structured manner means Frans can act flexibly, but also form an overview, with the aim of achieving the best possible result. In other words, ‘maximal input = maximal output’.

Frans is highly experienced in working with all sorts of different stakeholders, including within the Sustainable Clothing and Textile Covenant. Thanks to his experience of CSR in practice, he understands why entrepreneurs or managers may see the complex transition to sustainability as an insurmountable hurdle. He firmly believes in objective monitoring and co-creation as the best routes to an optimal and future-proof value chain for UC Group clients. And this is going to be an urgent priority for every business, given the obligations arising from EU and national legislation (CSRD, CSDDD, EPR).
